If you are really into the Korean pop scene, you might have dreamed about dating your favorite idol at some point. But is romance really that easy in the pop idol world?
Lately, I wandered over to Dramafever, and checked out one of their top rated dramas. (If you are in the U.S. and Canada, this is the site where you can watch English-subtitled dramas legally for free, with ads interspersed within each episode.)
Now, if you love romantic comedies, I would highly recommend you watch the super funny and cute series, You’re Beautiful. The story revolves around a nun-in-training (starring Park Shin Hye), who gets dragged into the world of k-pop music, and disguises herself as a man to substitute for her twin brother, Minam. Her arrival into the popular boy band A.N.Jell creates not only chaos and confusion among the band members, but also sparks many hilarious and strangely romantic moments. A.N.Jell, a fictitious idol music group, comprises of Tae-Kyung (actor Jang Geun Suk), and two real K-pop idols, Shin-Woo (CNBlue vocal/guitarist Jung Yong Hwa), and Jeremy (FT Island lead vocal Lee Hong Ki).
With the success of this drama, A.N.Jell fan groups sprouted throughout Asia in the past few months. Last month, A.N.Jell held a sold-out fan meeting in Tokyo with 4000 fans in attendance. Additionally, numerous solo fan meetings were also held by male lead Jang Geun Suk in many Asian countries. Hopefully, they will hold a fan meeting for this drama in the U.S.
I am not usually crazy over Korean dramas, as the pacing tends to be a little too slow for my taste. But I think You’re Beautiful got it right this time, the plot was simple, the delivery was superb, and the production was meticulous (for an idol drama, not too many will actually throw two real concerts just for scenes).
Since the DVD set (U.S. region version) of this drama is released last week, you can now buy You’re Beautiful online and enjoy it without commercials.
