(re)present 2011 Showcases Community Talents

(re)present 2011 was held last Thursday (5/12) at San Jose’s Theatre on San Pedro Square. Presented by South Bay First Thursdays, this annual Asian American talent showcase is now on its third year. This time around, the lineup included many San Francisco Bay Area musicians, singers, spoken word artists, and dancers.

According to organizer Howard Lui, quite a few of this year’s talent was scouted through the open mics held by Kollaboration. This has shown once again how Asian American community groups and networks work together to expand the market for the next generation of Asian Americans to showcase their artistic talent.

Let’s take a look at some of these amazing talents on our video coverage of (re)present 2011:

Cynthia Lin performed original songs from her three albums. She recently moved from New York to San Francisco.

King Tim brought house music to the audience.

According to Alfluent, the duo from Lyrical Opposition are both 25 years old.

Organizer Howard Lui also showed off his dancing skill following the style of Michael Jackson.
